Conscious Genetics; Innovation in Cannabis Breeding

Conscious Genetics began its breeding journey almost seven years ago with its flagship strain, the Conscious Kush V1 . This strain is a mix of Sunset Sherbet, Orange Diesel, Blue Cookies and Guard Dawg, and Conscious Genetics strives to set itself apart from other growers by developing unique, deep purple plants. It's common knowledge that most purple strains leave a lot to be desired in terms of terpenes, and Conscious Genetics has made it their mission to change that narrative.

Through extensive research, they came across a breeder called Annunaki Genetics from USA Genetics who specializes in rare purple genetics. Conscious Genetics went through a large amount of stock from Annunaki and searched for a unique purple strain to use as a base for their breeds. They eventually settled on the Huckleberry Soda F2 and the Pink Lemonade V2, both of which had the deep purple hues they were looking for.

Conscious Genetics found a male phenotype of the phenotype of the Huckleberry Soda F2 which they used to pollinate their favorite strains to make them even more unique. They started with strains from Lady Sativa Genetics and DNA Genetics, as well as a few others. After another round of selection, they decided which phenos to use for their next cross. This cross was created by reversing their Conscious Kush V1 and pollinating their favorites, including the purple Pink Lemonade V2 pheno. This led to the development of the Conscious Kush V1 backcross line.

The hunt for new keepers led to further backcrosses within the Conscious Kush V1 line, resulting in Bx1s and Bx2s resulted. One notable addition was the Sour Apple Runtz, a gift from a close friend that impressed with its 30% test scores and frosty appearance. Conscious Genetics crossed this strain with their favorites from the Conscious Kush V1 line, creating the Sour Apple Runtz line, which is very popular with extractors due to its high extraction yields.

Conscious Genetics continued work on their feminized purple hybrid line with the goal of introducing more terpenes into their purple genetics and perfecting certain traits within the strains. Their latest creations from the Pink Champagne Bx1 backcross line include a rare phenotype that exhibited a solid purple color, high resin production on dense buds and excellent structure. Although this pheno was slightly behind in terms of terpenes, the reversal and crossing with their favorites produced super terpene-rich and frosty varieties.

Conscious Genetics firmly believes that the best strains they will produce are yet to come. With their next seed release, they plan to phenotype a number of selected strains and put seven years of work into some final strains. These strains will have everything a grower could wish for: Terpenes, purple colors, density, yield, structure, vigor and visual appeal.
